Narratives become markets onchain

Onchain markets turn memes, creators, communities and cultural moments into tradable tokens. Their identities come from the ideas people gather around.

Attention can become liquidityโ€‹

These markets are participatory. Communities name the idea, create the imagery, circulate the story and trade the token. The result is a market whose identity can develop as quickly as the conversation around it.

Fast formation, sharp repricingโ€‹

Attention can bring buyers to a market quickly and leave just as quickly. A quoted market capitalization is not the amount of money deposited or the liquidity available to sellers.

Shared ideas organize attention; onchain infrastructure provides a place to trade. Liquidity, price and sentiment respond to participation, independently of any underlying business.

These markets are speculative. A compelling story provides no assured demand or market depth, and a position can lose its full value.

A second market cultureโ€‹

Traditional vehicles made it familiar to express a thesis through a defined composition. Onchain markets made it familiar to launch and trade the narrative itself. Those two behaviors developed on different rails.

The arrival of stock-linked instruments onchain brought them much closer together.
